Picked up Ashley this morning around 6:45am and headed to
the airport. Traffic was a bit backed up due to some accidents on I-77 and
I-485, but managed to get there with plenty of time. Parked in long term and
shuttled our asses over to the terminal. Today seemed to be travel day for all
of Charlotte, because it what looked like all of South End was in front of us
in the TSA line. What a wait!!
We had about 30 minutes to spare so we popped in the Stock
Car CafĂ© for a couple of drinks and a biscuit. It wasn’t long and we were off
to Denver. The flight was 3.5 hours and went actually pretty quickly. Once we
landed we grabbed our bags and headed off to Enterprise for the rental. We
ended up getting a Ram Hemi truck that rides very comfortably.
The drive from Denver to Breckenridge was absolutely
beautiful. The evergreens out here just pop and enhance the landscape
tremendously. We drove west on I-70 through mountains on both sides that
towered us by thousands of feet. Gorgeous homes sprinkled the landscape on the
drive and the countryside just seemed well placed as nothing jammed packed.
Everything just flows.
We arrived in Breckenridge around 1:30pm and it is not at
all what I imagined. In fact, it is far better than I imagined. It is a small town
that sit in a valley amongst giant mountains all around it. Absolutely stunning
views and crazy to see snow on the tops of the mountains seeing that we are in
early August. The temperature here is around 70 degrees during the day but
dropped to the low 50’s overnight. We are both glad we brought some jacks.
Spent the afternoon walking around and hitting some shops, grabbed some beers
at a few locals and eventually made to the grocery store.
