Finally figured out the name of the fish we saw yesterday. It is a Blackspotted Puffer. Both the yellow and blue/brown versions are the same.
Today was to be a day of shopping. We were to go into Cobano. Cobano is the main town with bank and supermarket about 25km from Cabuya. Marco, the hotel manager from Hotel Caleja (Ca-Lay-he) offered to give us a ride into town today. We gladly took him up on his offer. Doing grocery shopping here can be a bit of a chore, especially if you have a lot to purchase. Understand, Super David has an okay selection, but nothing like a real grocery store. I mean real milk and orange juice, selection of coffee, a full vegetable and fruit section, meat counter, etc…
We got into town and I quickly went into the bank to change in some of our monopoly money, while Anna and the kids went to the Mega Super. When I got done exchanging the money, I quickly went over to finish shopping with the rest of the Schiffers clan. Anna got some amazing ground beef. We made pan fried some weeks ago, and regretted doing so. The meat was ground so fine, there was hardly any fat in it. It was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, it was made into spaghetti meat. We purchased it again today for a different purpose. Anna has her mind made up as to what it will become. I can’t wait to be her guinea pig.
Today's Knight in Shining Armor!! Okay, Knight in Not So Shiny Shirt!! |
When we got done with shopping we headed to a soda where Marco was waiting for us. We had a drink and I walked over to one of the local shops. I managed to grab a couple of items and called the troops over. We looked around a bit and off we were back in Marco’s car heading back over to the supermarket. When we got done buying our groceries, we had asked the manager to hold our stuff until we got Marco over with his car. It would have simply been one royal pain in the butt to carry all the groceries across Cobano. We loaded the car and off we were back to Cabuya.
Little Thomas took this picture this morning. Then tried to catch it. He succeeded at the picture. |
Great ride back home. Marco dropped us off at the house. We unloaded the car and unpacked the groceries. We bidded Marco farewell and thanked him for the ride. About two minutes later I freaked. Where the heck was my backpack???? No way!!! It was back at the soda in Cobano. We had left there easily one hour ago. The backpack was definitely history. We called Marco and asked what the name of the soda was. I couldn’t find it in the directory. This place was off the grid. Who was I kidding that this place would even be listed on the internet, let alone have a phone listing.
They told me all day that I was hanging out with a couple of stars!!! |
Luckily, Marco new the name of the place and even had the phone number. A couple more minutes later he called and said they had the bag and he was on his way over. Marco headed back to pick me up, drove back to Cobano, picked up the lost bag, and then took me for one of the most beautiful drives back to Cabuya. The generosity of Marco was above and beyond. I can’t thank him enough.
This guy showed up for audiences! |
