Day 5 - Playa Lagun (Lagoon Beach)

Seahorse  - Discovered by LT aka Cousteau
Playa Lagun - Left half of the beach
Today would be a day of snorkeling. Alright, yesterday was pretty much a day of snorkeling too, but today we would be heading to Playa Lagun. Jung, the cook at Karakter where we ate yesterday, recommended we visit the beach to see some sea turtles. Playa Lagun is on the very north point of Curacao and it would take us about 1.5 hours to get there. Well worth it, for a sighting of a sea turtle.

We left the hotel at 8:30 and got to the beach at around 10am. Quaint little beach between two cliffs. Could not have been more than 300 yards wide. Perfect spot. There were just a few people there and we felt like we had the place to ourselves.

The water was astoundingly clear. It was hard to get out of the water. The sheer beauty of nature in the ocean is overwhelming. Some many different species and varieties of corals, sea fans, fishes, etc... We snorkeling there until 2pm and then hit their little beach side restaurant before heading out to the next beach. Unfortunately we did not see any sea turtles, but we saw a lot of other beautiful things.
A newly discovered species of mermaid.

Not sure the name, but was simply beautiful
Sea Spider - Big guy. Picture does not do justice. Was taken under a rock upside down.
Pretty little picture that gives you an idea of how clear the water is.
Lunch at the beach side grill.
